The Professional:

I originally went to college as a civil engineering major, but quickly found my way into the landscape architecture program. In a way, joining Kampfire feels like a full-circle moment: finding my way back into the civil engineering world with a background shaped by landscape design, construction, and the spaces people experience every day. 

I have always been drawn to building and creating. Early on, that meant Legos and tree forts in the woods. As I got older, that curiosity evolved into design, construction, and finding ways to bring ideas from concept into reality. What I enjoy most about creating is the process of following an idea without fully knowing where it will lead. It starts with curiosity, then becomes a series of decisions, adjustments, and discoveries. At its best, it feels less like forcing an outcome and more like pulling a thread and seeing where it naturally wants to go. 

That mindset has followed me throughout my career. From studying landscape architecture at the University of Connecticut, to working in the heart of New York City on construction projects in Central Park, to spending years in high-end residential landscape design/build, I have learned to see projects through both a creative and practical lens. I enjoy the challenge of understanding how all the pieces fit together: the design intent, the technical requirements, the construction process, and the people the project ultimately serves. 

At Kampfire, I am excited to continue building on that experience while learning and contributing within both the civil engineering and landscape architecture fields. I bring a design-focused perspective, a construction-minded approach, and a deep appreciation for collaboration. For me, good work often comes from staying curious, respecting different viewpoints, and being open to the idea that the best solution may reveal itself through the process.  

The Inner Flame:

Outside of work, I am still usually following some kind of creative thread. Music has always been a major outlet for me, offering the same sense of exploration, experimentation, and discovery that I find rewarding in the design world. I enjoy the feeling of starting with a small idea and letting it grow into something unexpected. 

That same sense of curiosity also shows up in how I like to explore the world. While I have always been drawn to new places, I often enjoy seeing familiar places in a new light even more. There is something exciting about realizing that the same street, trail, view, or moment can feel completely different depending on your perspective. 

That openness to exploration has taken me through a few different chapters of life, from living in the Northeast to out West, with each place shaping the way I see design, community, landscape, and the idea of home. One of the most meaningful parts of this current chapter is sharing it with my wife, Jennifer, who also works at Kampfire as a stormwater engineer. Being able to contribute to projects together adds a new dimension to the idea of building and creating, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue growing both personally and professionally alongside her.
