The Professional:

Growing up, I always enjoyed designing and building things. I spent countless hours playing with Legos, creating whatever I could imagine. For a while, I thought architecture would be a great career because designing homes and buildings sounded exciting.

In high school, I discovered that I also enjoyed math and physics. Several people suggested I look into engineering, and while I didn’t fully understand what engineers did at the time, the idea stuck with me. As I explored career options in college, engineering stood out as a way to combine design, problem-solving, and creativity without needing to be an artist. After taking classes and doing some research, civil engineering felt like the right fit.

One of the things I’ve come to appreciate most about engineering is the problem-solving aspect. Every project presents unique challenges, and no two solutions are exactly the same. I enjoy working through those challenges and finding practical solutions. It keeps the work interesting and makes it rewarding when everything comes together.  

The Inner Flame:

One of the things I value most about Kampfire is the emphasis on work-life balance. While I enjoy being an engineer, it’s important to me that my career is only one part of who I am.

Family has always been a major influence in my life. I was fortunate to be raised by great parents and surrounded by strong examples growing up. Now that I have a family of my own, I’m excited to provide my kids with many of the same opportunities I was given.

My wife is one of my greatest strengths. She’s creative, thoughtful, and has a gift for connecting with people. I’m grateful to have a partner who shares my values and is always willing to listen and help me think through ideas.

Outside of work, I enjoy exercising, watching sports, playing golf, reading, and relaxing with a good movie or TV show. I also love having a trip planned, whether that means exploring a new city, visiting another country, relaxing on a beach, or taking the family to Disneyland.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the path that led me to engineering. It allows me to create, solve problems, and still have time for the people and experiences that matter most.
